To gain a clearer idea of what the characters typically wear during these scenes I made these mood-boards, picking a colour palette for each of them that mirrored their personalities.
Emma Swan:
For Emma I picked these colours because of her determination to find her parents, represented by the red, which is fueled by her want for stability symbolised by the blue. The grey represents her loss at not being able to find her parents.
In the original scene in the show, Emma is wearing a red dress with a black cardigan and dark blue coat. However, I decided to change this to this red jumper and lighter blue rain jacket, as I think that they make Emma look more like she is on the run as they are practical for all types of weather. They are also much more casual and layered, which is closer to the somewhat unkempt look I want to achieve.
I have decided to keep Emma's glasses because they are such an important signifier for the time period to the audience, and make the transition she goes through in the sequence clear as she appears without them in the last scene.
Because it is so significant to the character of Emma in the show, I wanted to find a red leather jacket that was as close to the character's as possible. This one is slightly darker but I like this better than the brighter one in the show as it fits more with the darker colours Emma normally wears, and therefore does not stick out as much. I also like the style better as it is more casual, and not as stylised which I think makes the transition much more likely for Emma as it is still similar to what she used to wear. This style also shows just how much influence Cleo has had on Emma, as it is similar to the style of the brown one she wears.
Emma's tattoo:
I wanted to include Emma's tattoo in my film because of the significance it can be seen to have to her parents before they have been reunited. Emma's tattoo is of a flower, which appears similar to the ones on her parent's coat of arms. It acts like a connection between them even when they are separated which I think is important to my sequence as the central motivation for Emma during these scenes is to find her parents.
Cleo Fox:
On this mood-board for Cleo, I picked these colours because of their neutral tones, but also because of browns strong connection to the earth and therefore security and home, which is what Emma is able to find after meeting Cleo, and black because of how it symbolises power and mystery. Cleo holds power over Emma by knowing about the crimes she has committed, being the one who can bring her to justice, but is also mysterious because she only appears for this one episode, so she is unknown to both Emma and the audience.

I decided to use this bag and wallet as being the ones Emma finds when she steals money from Cleo, as they fit the colour palette I want to use, but also are not overly feminine or masculine. This is what I found difficult when looking for wallets, as they were either too one or the other. I also chose this particular wallet because it has plenty of pockets to store the money and picture in.
Because Cleo's leather jacket is also so important to her character's identity, I wanted to pick one which reflected her. Therefore, I picked this one as the style of it with the collar reminded me of how she calls her jacket her armour, in order to shield her emotions so she doesn't get hurt, because it makes the jacket more enclosed when zipped up compared to the one I picked for Emma without a collar since Emma is more emotional.
Tasha Morris:
Since Tasha works in a clothes shop, I picked quite bright, feminine colours to represent her and her style. I picked green and purple specifically as green is tied to growth, and this is when Tasha finally finds out where she comes from so it is able to let go of things, and purple as it is a luxurious colour and Tasha works in quite a high-end clothes store. I also added the pink to emphasise the femininity of her style.
